And I agree that it was dumb for Bloomsbury not to correct their mistake: as I mentioned in my reply above, both
Magic Under Glass
came out in the same sales season, so it was Bloomsbury making the same dumb move twice, I think, rather than not learning from the first time.
But yeah, it's definitely something for would-be authors to consider! I'm just glad that people are finally acknowledging these conversations: I just remember all those years Ursula K. LeGuin had complained about the same issue and no publisher seemed to listen.... :/
